Filipino math achievers hook awards in Malaysia

Once again, the Filipino math wizards gained excellent results in their participation in the in the 2013 Malaysian Mathematics Competition for Primary Schools which will be held in Sungai, Petani, Kedah, Malaysia on September 13-16, 2013.
The math contest started in 2009 was exclusive only for Malaysian students until the organizer considered to open it, just this year, to other Asian countries, of which Indonesia, China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore and the Philippines sent top math aces.
Giving the Philippines the only silver medal was Stefan Marcus Ong of St. Jude Catholic School. This achievement made him stand with nine other mathletes from other participating countries.
The competition gave out 15 bronze medals and five of them went to the Philippines, the recipients were Eion Nikolai Chua of MGC New Life Christian Academy, Mickel Lyle Pe of Antique SPED Center, Fedrick Lance Lim of Zamboanga Chong Hua High School, Patrick Policarpio of Greenpark Montessori Learning and Ryan Jericho L. Sy of Chiang Kai Shek College.
Garnering merit awards were Margaux Franchesca Lim of Zamboanga Chong Hua High School and Robert Gerard Uy of St. John’s Institute, Bacolod.
Leading the Philippine delegation were Mr. Emmanuel Lance Christopher Plan and Mr. Jomari Ejedio who are both officials of the Mathematical Development Academy of the Philippines (MDAP).
