PHL math teams claim victory in HK

The Philippines, after sending a strong team of 125 math wizards, reaped various medals from their participation in the 2012 “King of Math” International Mathematics Contest and 2012 8th “Asia Cup” Stars of the Olympic Math Contest for Grades 1 to 6 and Grades 1 to 9 respectively in Hong Kong Teachers Association Lee Heng Kwei Secondary School on July 25, 2012.

The two contests held simultaneously made Filipino math wizards garnered a total 14 gold medals, 51 silver medals, 36 bronze medals and 24 merit awards in the “Asia Cup” and 6 gold medals, 13 silver medals, 19 bronze medals and 79 awards in the “King of Cup”.

Among the Philippine participants, Szel Leeven Yu Embay, Grade 4, of La Salle Academy, Adrian Nathaniel Chua, Grade 6 of Xavier School and Tiffany Mae Ong, Grade 5, of Immaculate Conception Academy, all winning silver medal in Asia Cup and gold medal in King of Cup also grabbed a trophy each as a special prize. The Philippine delegations were headed by the advisers and consultants such as Ms. Lucy Sia, Mrs. Myrna Agtarap, Dr. Enerio Sagusay, Mrs. Lucy Puro, Mr. Roger Nuqui, Mr. Jaime Go, Ms. Aurora Leones, Mr. Renard Eric Chua, Mr. Mark Joseph Tubo, Ms. Edeliza Alvarez, Ms. Concesa Rapacon and Mr. Jomarie Bandejas.
