Phase 2 MOSTP starts on June 4 at GCC

The Mathematics Trainers Guild (MTG), Philippines will commence the phase 2 of the 2018 Mathematical Olympiad Summer Training Program (MOSTP) for students who just ended their school year 2017-18.
The phase 2 MOSTP will be held at Grace Christian College on June 4 to 16, 2018 from 8 AM to 4 PM, Mondays to Saturdays.

AWARDING CEREMONIES AT PHILADELPHIA HIGH SCHOOL

Close to 300 math wizards who won medals in the Southeast Asia Mathematics Olympiad from will be honored for their remarkable performance during the awarding ceremonies which will be held at Philadelphia High School located at126 Talayan Rd, San Francisco del Monte, Quezon City on Saturday, May 19, 2018.
The prize presentation is expected to be attended by Mr. Roy Lo,SEAMO Executive Director, andMr. Terry Chew, SEAMO Associate Executive Director who will personally confer the medals to the 58 gold, 89 silver and 47 medalists.
The registration for the awardees start at 12noon at the Philadelphia High School auditorium and the program follows immediately. The awardees must wear their school uniform and ID for identification purposes.

PH students win medals, awards in Jakarta’s IMWiC

A group of young Filipino numbers aces mostly elementary and high school students from different parts of the Philippines won a total of 304 medals, including twenty-nine golds, in the just-ended 2018 International Mathematics Wizard Challenge (IMWiC). The Philippine math team also bagged 80 silvers, 128 bronzes and 67 merit awards in the individual contest, held from May 5 to 6 in Jakarta, Indonesia.

“We’re interested in thinking skills and problem solving,” Mrs. Susan Tiu, IMWiC organizer said. “Especially in the age of calculators, we’re looking for problems that challenge them and make them think, rather than something they press three buttons to get an answer.”

It was a mission accomplished for the Filipino mathletes who were unbeaten from the showdown involving the best in mathematics from Indonesia and Thailand. Best in the Philippines and still best they returned home with glitters of gold, silver and bronze medals in their hands.

PH wins 294 medals in SEAMO 2017

The Filipino math wizards harvested a total of 294 medals in the 2017 Southeast Asia Mathematics Olympiad (SEAMO) conducted at various MTG centers in the Philippines onDecember 16, 2018.
From almost a thousand participants who competed in the SEAMO 2017 from the Philippines, an astounding 58 gold, 89 silver, and 147 bronze medals had been harvested by our country’s finest in mathematics.

In all, the SEAMO 2017 attracted more than 15,000 participants from Brunei, Malaysia, Indonesia, Cambodia, Vietnam, Thailand, Laos, Myanmar, Singapore, and the Philippines.
